Summit is a service through the Orbis-Cascade Alliance, a group of academic libraries in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho that work together to provide enhanced service. Summit uses a dedicated courier service that makes regular and frequent deliveries, so requests for materials through the system usually arrive in 1 - 3 days. All materials borrowed through Summit will be loaned for 6 weeks and are eligible for one renewal. Only print materials may be loaned through Summit.
Interlibrary Loan reaches beyond those collections to include libraries of all types around the United States. Researchers may request print materials as well as scans of articles and book chapters through ILL. ILL scans typically arrive within 1 - 3 days, but can take longer depending on the availability of the material. Print materials are sent via the mail and arrive from around the country; they typically arrive within 1 - 3 weeks. Due dates are set by lending libraries, and may vary by loaning institution and material type. Renewals must be requested in advance and may not be granted by the loaning institution.
